| Description:
The
worm has a red outline with a white body. It has
little tufts of bristles along the body that resemble
legs.

|
Habitat:
The
lined fireworms live on the reef. They are sometimes
found on the undersides of rocks.
 |
Range
(include invasive, native, endemic): Lined
fireworms are native and their range is Indo-Pacific.
 |
Trophic
information: They
are omnivores, eating sea stars, algae, other worms, and
molluscs.
 |
Safety:
Thier
bristles can irritate your skin if you touch them.
If you are stung, mix meat tenderizer with rubbing alcohol
to make a paste, then rub it on the affected area.
Do not use the paste if you are allergic to papya, which
is in meat tenderizer. You can also remove imbedded
bristles from your skin with tape.
 |
Comments:
Handle
these creatures with care, be careful of their bristles
which will cause you pain if touched. So, in other
