Description: The
Lined Sea Hare has fine, dark lines that run along the
body from head to tail. May have small black or blue spots
on the body. Approximately a half inch to an inch long.
Habitat: Shallow tide
pools of at least 1 meter deep. Warm, salt water seas.
Range
(include invasive, native, endemic): Native.
Trophic
information: Feeds
mostly on blue-green algae of the family Lyngbya. Not eaten
by many things as it does not taste very good.
Safety: Possibly poisonous;
do not eat it. It is known to have acid to keep it from
being eaten. Try not to step on it as it is squishy and
you might slip and fall and break your posterior.
Comments: Does not survive very well in aquarium settings. Tends to last about a week at the most.
