Fall 1997 enrollment 569 students, 32 teachers, and an average class size of 18.8. Youth Development Project, a character building and self-esteem program, has been adopted.

Located in rural Upcountry, Maui, on the outskirts of Makawao Town. Opened in 1985. Sixth to eighth grade. Fall 1997 enrollment of 1,343 students, 67 teachers, and an average class size of 22.4. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. Special programs include Gifted and talented, Hawaiian Immersion, Special Education, Autism Program, and E-School, or electronically transmitted education. Technology is incorporated with computer lab instruction. A new Library and Instructional Technology Center are scheduled to open in the Fall of 1998.
